The Kontiki Building Project in Curaçao highlights Touchwood’s expertise in tropical wood construction and sustainable resort design.
This Touchwood Curaçao project includes three Building A units and two Building B units, all meticulously prefabricated with care and precision. The mockups are now completed, and the entire development is in the shipping process, ready to be installed at Kontiki Resorts in the Caribbean.
The project was designed by Jesus Acosta and prefabricated and installed by Touchwood for Kontiki Resorts.
This collaboration combines thoughtful architecture with skilled craftsmanship. Together, we are create a tropical retreat that blends effortlessly with its coastal surroundings.
Each building features Bangkirai hardwood, a tropical material known for its strength, stability, and weather resistance. This hardwood is ideal for seaside environments, where durability and warmth are essential. Furthermore, the design includes wide roof overhangs that offer both architectural elegance and practical shade, ensuring comfort in Curaçao’s sunny climate.
The roof combines natural charm with modern performance. Its synthetic rattan finishing delivers the texture of natural fibers while maintaining long-term durability. Beneath the surface, waterproofing layers and rock wool insulation provide protection and energy efficiency. As a result, the interiors stay cool, dry, and comfortable year-round.
Meanwhile, the cement board wall paneling introduces a clean, modern look that complements the warm tones of Bangkirai wood. This thoughtful blend of natural and technical elements defines Touchwood’s approach to tropical architecture design — merging artistry, performance, and sustainability.
As these prefabricated buildings make their way across the ocean, the Kontiki Building Project stands as a proud example of Touchwood’s tropical craftsmanship. Each structure reflects our dedication to creating luxury tropical buildings that endure, inspire, and celebrate the spirit of island living.
