Touchwood is proud to unveil the latest progress on our international tropical resort development in The Bahamas, a fully custom, hurricane-resistant timber resort now actively under construction. Surrounded by pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters, this project showcases Touchwood’s mastery in prefab tropical architecture, sustainable hardwood engineering, and complex offshore installations.

Crafted for long-term durability and refined island living, this resort exemplifies our vision for world-class tropical construction.

Project Overview

This bespoke island resort consists of multiple custom-designed beachfront bungalows and a main hospitality complex featuring a restaurant, kitchen, bar, lounge, and open-air dining spaces. Every structure is elevated on engineered timber foundations to maximize airflow, ocean views, and a fully immersive tropical experience.

All buildings are designed and engineered in-house by Touchwood, meeting Miami-Dade hurricane-resistant code standards — one of the world’s most rigorous requirements for high-wind and storm-prone environments. This ensures unmatched structural resilience and safety for long-term island operations.

Premium Hardwood Materials for Tropical Performance

Merbau Hardwood — Structural Excellence

A signature Touchwood material, Merbau is used throughout the resort’s framing system for its strength, termite resistance, and rich tropical character. Its performance in coastal environments makes it ideal for high-end tropical resorts.

Ironwood Roofing (Kayu Ulin) — Extreme Durability

One of the toughest tropical hardwoods available, Kayu Ulin is installed as the primary roofing material. Highly resistant to moisture, heat, and salt exposure, it ensures exceptional lifespan with minimal maintenance—crucial for remote island projects.

All hardwoods are responsibly sourced, aligning with Touchwood’s core commitment to sustainable and low-impact tropical construction.

Construction Progress (Updated 2025)

The project is currently in the active installation phase, supported by a full-time Touchwood project manager and a skilled team of 20 craftsmen. All onsite works are coordinated directly with Touchwood’s headquarters in Bali to maintain precise quality control.
